About BGO

The Burg Golf Open is an annual charity golf tournament benefitting the Saint Cloud Share the Spirit Holiday Program and the Twin Cities' Sponsor a Family Program. During the Holiday Season, this program provides holiday gifts and food for needy families, as well as other needed items i.e. furniture, clothing, and food. It all started in 1998 when the Burg family held a family golf outing. In 2001, BGO decided their tournament would be a great way to give back to the community and transitioned the BGO to a charity golf tournament. From those humble beginnings of 15 family members, the tournament has grown to over 150 golfers in 2006. This past year we were able to contribute $16,000 for the kids and families benefiting from the programs. To date, BGO has donated over $71,000, a tribute to the gophers, sponsors, donators, and volunteers involved with BGO. Just a few years ago, BGO was able to save the St. Cloud's Share the Spirit Holiday Program which had been slated for cancellation due to lack of funds.. Since the start, the theme that resonates around the tournament is: It's for the Kids!
